The warmth of Tuscany, an open stone courtyard. We turned a very simple front and side yard into an appreciated and noticed stone courtyard area. With oversized dry stacked Montana stone, trees and plants that offer a variety of color and texture for year round interest, along with gorgeous large pots filled with beautiful plantings. This space is now very user friendly, offering a really dramatic entry. The cedar steps to the front door have been widened and the treads made broader to offer a more updated and welcoming entry. We also designed and built a stunning fence to offer a sense of seclusion. The arbor is strong, so as not to get too sweet, but to still suggest a sense of interest and discovery. As you open the side gate the Montana stone walls continue and a stone path gently winds onto a patio where a comfortable set of adirondack chairs circle a beautiful copper fire pit. The stairs were widened and extended from the existing deck to accommodate more seating around the fire and allow for the patio and the deck to become more of an integrated space. We have often heard from the owner about this garden. He is more than pleased with his new outdoor living space. We had a great time working with him and together we discovered what would be the perfect garden space for his residence. |
